Basement Insulation

Air Sealing
All attic plane penetrations are sealed using foam to prevent air exfiltration from the conditioned living space. Attic access points, electrical penetrations , plumbing penetrations and open wall tops are to be sealed. Penetrations through basement walls and through basement ceilings for electrical and plumbing are sealed. Chimney chases are sealed using metal flashing and high temperature caulking.
Closed Cell Sprayfoam
Minimum of 2" closed cell foam will be installed on exposed basement walls to a depth of 2 feet below outside grade. An intumescent fireblock paint is also installed for safety reasons. This process air seals the traditionally leaky box sills while also adding much needed R-value and provides warmer floors and improved comfort.
